Most people staying in Albufeira never make it to Praia dos Aveiros. That’s partly down to how the beach sits, tucked into a small cove between Praia da Oura to the east and Praia dos Alem\u00e3es to the west, separated from both by rocky outcrops and accessed by a path rather than a car park drop-off. For the people who do find it, that’s usually the point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Praia dos Aveiros Albufeira holds Blue Flag status, which means it meets consistent standards for water quality and beach management. It’s a small beach by any measure, around 100 metres of fine ochre-coloured sand flanked by limestone cliffs and rock formations, but the cove setting keeps the wind off you and the crowd numbers well below anything you’d find on the main Albufeira strips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The beach sits in the Areias de S\u00e3o Jo\u00e3o district, roughly 1.5 kilometres from Albufeira town centre. You can drive to the area, but parking is more complicated than at most Albufeira beaches. The car park closest to the beach is reserved for residents and hotel guests. There is a public car park approximately 300 metres away, so factor in a short walk down to the shoreline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If you’d rather skip the car, the Giro green bus line runs from the Albufeira bus station every half hour and stops near Praia da Oura, from where Praia dos Aveiros is a 15-minute walk along the coast path. A taxi from the town centre is an easy alternative, particularly if you’re travelling as a group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
